Monte Sereno, “Santa Clara Valley’s smallest and most exclusive community”, is 1.6 square miles of semi-rural exurbia nestled within (and policed by) the city of Los Gatos. The sixteen Eichlers of Sereno Foothills don’t sit on the typical Monte Sereno half- or even full-acre (their lots are usually 8000 to 9000 sq.ft.) but these are still large, deluxe homes by the standards of 1969-71 when they were built. All are gallery models, almost all with four bedrooms, and they hover around 2000 sq.ft. Located on Via Sereno, a short side street off Winchester, these Eichlers are close to the highly-regarded local elementary school and within walking distance of Los Gatos’ fine downtown. Standards of maintenance are high, as one would expect in this price range, and Sereno Foothills would easily be a candidate for “best Eichler neighborhood” if there was more to it than just sixteen homes. The location is good but perhaps a bit isolated by Winchester Boulevard, a busy if attractive four-lane road.
